Ulthera
Stimulating Collagen Production With Ulthera
Ulthera is a non-invasive treatment to tighten up skin that is in early to moderate stages of sagging. It is also great for those who do not want any downtime or any surgery to address signs of ageing associated with skin laxity.
By utilizing tried and tested ultrasound energy commonly known for medical imaging and physical therapy as a direct energy source, Ulthera generates heat as a mechanism to stimulate collagen production in the deeper layers of your skin to help erase visible signs of aging.
Ultrasound scanning allows Ulthera to deliver a very precise dose of energy that reaches deeper down, to depths that include the full thickness of the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System or SMAS, the very layer that plastic surgeons work on to tighten while performing surgical facelifts. Often touted as a premium non-surgical facelifting option, Ulthera is therefore an actual SMAS lifting device that gives better lifting of jowls and saggy skins.

Ulthera works in cases where we want to lift, tone and tighten the skin non-invasively. It is a great procedure to reverse the signs of aging without any surgery or injection.
There is minimum downtime from Ulthera treatments; most people have virtually no downtime and proceed with normal activities including exercise.
Occasionally, there may be mild facial swelling, which goes away in a couple of days. Typical results last 12 months to 2 years after a single treatment of Ulthera. We do this in our clinic and the procedure takes about 30 minutes to an hour.

FAQs:
How does Ulthera treatment procedure work?
Ulthera uses focused ultrasound to target the lax part of the skin. Ultrasound energy has been used in the medical industry to scan various parts of the body. This ultrasound energy causes an excitation of the collagen fibers, activating a string of processes to rejuvenate and tighten skin. This change goes on for months as your body responds to the ultrasound stimulation.
As with other ultrasound procedures, a smooth applicator placed on your skin projects an image onto the screen that allows our doctor to plan where the energy will be directed. This same applicator is then used to deliver low levels of focused heat at the right depth below the skin to achieve a positive effect, all the while leaving the surface of your skin undisturbed. Your skin’s response to the energy is to stimulate the growth of new collagen. A gradual tightening occurs, resulting in a natural lift of skin over time.
How does Ulthera treatment feel like?
Many patients describe the sensation as momentary prickling or heat beneath the skin. This is the ultrasound energy being delivered into the tissue. Comfort levels vary from person to person and apart from the routine numbing cream applied pre-treatment, oral analgesia and anxiolytic medication might be given prior to the procedure. Our doctor will discuss the options with you.
What can I expect afterward Ulthera treatment?
You are able to return to your normal activities right away, and there are no special measures you need to take. Your skin may appear slightly flushed and swollen immediately after getting treated, but any redness should resolve within hours.
Is Ulthera treatment safe?
Ultrasound energy has been used in the field of medicine for more than 50 years, and clinical studies have demonstrated the safety of this application for skin tightening. Ulthera has been given US FDA approval since 2009, reflecting the safety and efficacy of this treatment.
What kind of results can I expect from Ulthera done in SIngapore?
After the treatment session, the regenerative process is initiated, but the full effect will build gradually over the next 2 to 3 months. You will feel that your skin is tauter, that you will appear more refreshed and the more obvious sag lines will improve. Individual variation can occur.
In the FDA clinical study, 9 out of 10 patients had a noticeable, significant lift of the brow line. This resulted in reduced skin laxity on the eyelid, and a more open, youthful look to the eyes. Patients reported firmer, tighter, “better-fitting” skin in other areas of the face and neck as well. In more advanced cases of skin sag, repeat sessions may be indicated after 3 to 6 months,

How long will typical Ulthera results last?
Depending on the condition of your skin, your diet and lifestyle, age and genetics, the positive outcome of Ulthera will generally last for 12 to 18 months. Most of our patients return every 6 to 12 monthly for a maintenance program. As part of good medical advice, a healthy lifestyle in moderation is always helpful to feel and look youthful.
Who is a good candidate for Ulthera treatment?
A good candidate is someone with skin that has “relaxed” to the points of looking and often feeling, less firm. A lowered brow line or sagging skin on the eyelids, for instance, is often the first sign of “maturing” skin. Or it could be that turkey neck that people notice even before looking at you.
It could also be the tired cheeks that have lost their youthful tightness. If you desire a rejuvenated look, but are afraid of undergoing surgery, then this treatment might just be what you are looking for.
Can Ulthera be used on other parts of my body?
You may treat the neck area, right down to the décolletage. This is suitable if you want tightening of the neck skin and under-chin area. More and more data are emerging from international experience that Ulthera (Singapore) can be applied to other sagging areas, especially the tummy, arms and studies are underway to evaluate its effect on cellulite.
