The popularity of cosmetics injectables is on the rise and has been a worldwide trend for over a decade or so. It is arguable if Botox is still number one as we speak, for dermal fillers are quickly encroaching on that spot as a neck to neck second. Dermal Fillers are made from a variety of temporary or permanent materials that can be injected beneath the surface of the skin, and if your aesthetics physician knows what he’s doing and doesn’t go overboard with the needle, Dermal Fillers are collectively a group of incredibly versatile tool of choice to shave years off your face without the need to go under the knife. Not all Dermal Fillers are created equal, and a wide variety of beautification processes can be achieved with different types. When the correct type is chosen and appropriately administered, Dermal Fillers fill lines, add volume, enhance facial features and optimize skin hydration. The safest and most commonly used are those composed of naturally occurring Hyaluronic acid, with household names such as Restylane, Juvederm, and Belotero familiar to those in the know. Others include calcium fillers like Radiesse and Ellanse, with Sculptra made from poly-L-lactic acid working uniquely as a collagen stimulator, bringing about skin rejuvenating and anti-aging benefits in an entirely different manner.
As a wrinkle eraser, Dermal Fillers are able to address certain lines where Botox fail to succeed. Best for deep wrinkles that are present even when facial muscles are not contracting, these are known as static wrinkles that do not respond favorably to Botox treatment. Caused by sagging and decreased plumpness of the face due to a loss of collagen and elasticity in the skin, commonly treated static wrinkles include those along the cheeks (deep laugh lines or nasolabial folds) and around the mouth (Marionette lines). In some cases when dynamic expression lines are permanently etched into skin, visible even at rest, approaching them with a combination of Botox and Dermal Fillers will give a better outcome.
Dermal fillers can also be used as facial “volumizers”, much like how new stuffing works for a deflated pillow. Common areas of corrective treatment include tear trough or undereye hollowing, sunken temples and flattened cheeks. They can also be used for Facial Enhancement, augmenting features such as the nose, cheeks, lips and chin in a natural looking way.
In a lunchtime procedure affectionately dubbed as the Liquid Facelift, minimal amounts of Restylane LYFT, a high lifting capacity filler, are introduced via a precise series of microinjections engaging the Tru-Lift technique. By targeting supporting true retaining ligaments that display increased laxity with age, they are made tauter to increase the tension to the overlying facial tissue. Putting into effect a subtle tightening to sagging skin, the result is a natural, rejuvenating lift that is noticeable but not overdone. Depending on our doctor’s assessment of patient’s individual clinical condition, an additional treatment may be recommended to achieve optimal results.
Aimed to revive tired and lackluster complexions by optimizing skin hydration, Skinboosters are a special group of Dermal Fillers employed to replenish skin moisture to ideal levels for unparalleled luminescence radiating the enviable glow of youthful-looking complexions. Thanks to an exclusive patented bio-synthesis process, the pure hyaluronic acid used is highly identical to our own skin’s polymer. By maintaining high bio-compatibility with near zero adverse effects, it is readily incorporated into our skin matrix for exceedingly natural looking results.
Dermal fillers are a great option to soften, reduce or even completely erase wrinkles on certain areas of the face. They can also be used to improve an ageing, deflated and descending face by plumping up and restoring youthful volume in a natural way. It can also be used to enhance facial features such as the nose, cheeks, lips and the chin.

How is Sculptra different from other dermal fillers?
Sculptra provides more subtle and long-lasting results than many other fillers. It works on the deeper layers of your skin, in contrast to other fillers that simply fill in wrinkles without addressing the underlying cause. Because Sculptra replaces lost collagen, the results can last up to two years, which is longer than other dermal fillers. Unlike Hyaluronic acid or HA fillers which give immediate results, the similar filling effect seen after Sculptra will disappear after two days, only to have gradual improvement seen in 8 to 12 weeks’ time and is best done with 3 consecutive sessions at intervals as recommended by your physician according to the specific requirements to fulfil your skin needs.
Am I a good candidate for Sculptra?
This is the perfect option for those who are not keen to go under the knife. Sculptra provides gradual, natural looking results with significantly less downtime compared to surgical facelift. The procedure takes as little as 30 minutes and is perfect for those who aren’t keen for nary a telltale sign of having “works done”. When considering Sculptra, there are a few things to take into consideration. If you’re specifically hoping for a natural look, Sculptra’s gradual approach will do the trick of keeping everyone guessing about your “secret” to looking so radiant and beautiful especially when the aim is to treat several areas for total rejuvenation.
However, if instant results are important to you, such as the need for a quick fix in time for an upcoming school reunion or wedding anniversary, Sculptra may not fit the bill. Finally, it’s important to remember that Sculptra works best in combination with a consistent after-care regimen, so if you want to get the most out of each treatment, you’ll need to remain committed to your aesthetics physician’s instructions and suggested treatment plan to address your beauty woes.
