Is the discomfort during Ultherapy Prime treatment linked to deeper layers being targeted, or is it due to the heat used in the procedure?
When the microfocused ultrasound energy from Ultherapy Prime is fired into the skin, they are focused into specific points. These areas are called thermal coagulation points, and these areas can be heated up to as much as 60 degrees celsius. This heat is interpreted by the skin/body as discomfort. To some patients, they are able to differentiate when we use a deeper transducer versus a shallower transducer. To others, it all feels quite similar.

Does experiencing more discomfort necessarily indicate better results from Ultherapy Prime, or is that a misconception?
That is a misconception, especially with Ultherapy Prime. With the new generation of Ultherapy Prime, our patients have reported significantly less discomfort compared to their previous Ultherapy treatments, and yet some are saying the results are seen faster, with more lifting. You must let us know if you are feeling too much pain, so that we can adjust the treatment parameters and settings.
Are there any lifestyle habits or skincare routines that can support collagen production after undergoing Ultherapy Prime?
The standard post treatment advice still applies. Avoid strenuous activities, excessively hot environments and alcohol consumption for at least 1-2 days post treatment. Sun screen is a must. If there is any superficial skin irritation or redness, you should avoid using very strong active ingredients (e.g. acids - AHA BHA PHAs retinols etc) until the redness has resolved. After a few days, continue with your routine skin care, which should consist of a gentle cleanser, sunblock, moisturizers and serums.
Are there specific supplements (like collagen or Vitamin C) that can support the skin’s recovery or enhancement post-treatment with Ultherapy Prime?
Oral collagen supplements may be taken post Ultherapy Prime. Using too concentrated vitamin C serum may exacerbate any skin irritation if there is any post-treatment. Be gentle on the skin for the first couple of days post-treatment. Drink lots of water to hydrate the skin, and use sun protection as well.

How soon after Ultherapy Prime can I return to intense physical activity, and should I consider any impact on collagen regeneration during that time?
As long as there is no skin irritation, swelling or redness, you can return to intense physical activity 1-2 days post Ultherapy. Sun/UV exposure has been shown to hamper collagen synthesis, so sun avoidance with sunscreen usage is key.
